Duties & Responsibilities/Mission Statement
This division is responsible for maintenance of drawings and records, in-house design, subdivision, right-of-way, and administration of the City’s capital construction programs. The engineering department also handles construction inspection, conservation, mapping, graphics, erosion & sediment inspection (NPDES), and the City’s Green Cities Initiatives. The City Engineer also serves as the City’s Public Services Director, which covers the Utilities, Facilities Maintenance, Public Work, and Airport Departments.
Engineering Inspections
The Engineering Department conducts site inspections for non-residential projects including compliance with erosion and sedimentation control procedures, drainage, stormwater management, paving and other site related improvements. The Engineering Department does not inspect buildings as this is performed by the City’s Building Inspection Department.
